Social Media and Wedding Films

Social Media and Wedding Films

This first blog, well not first but first on this new blog site is
about basically... blogs!!! and facebook and twitter etc etc. As
I get older I seem to get further away from technology and whats 'happening' but in the wedding industry as I am, I'm also aware that I'm also getting further away from my potential brides. If I dont use a computer like they use a computer my business will fail, maybe fail is too harsh a word but Im definately going to find it difficult to find the brand new customer. Does this matter? I suppose at the moment to me its Yes and No, Yes because obviously I dont want my business to fail and go downhill, but No because at the moment I get lots of custom from word of mouth from past brides and colleagues Ive met along the way. The problem will be in the next few years, especially if I dont keep up to date right now and think this little gap doesnt matter yet because this little gap will get massive. The wedding industry seems a little slow with technology in general, I know lots of great companies with great products, but there websites are terrible, they dont reflect them and some of them have no website at all. We have a website, facebook page, twitter account and now a blog so my online presence is fine, I dont quite get it all at first but I make sure I learn and its already paying off. My favourite thing about all this social media is it is free, free to use and free to advertise!!! My industry (video) falls short when it comes to most advertising...but not with social media. An advert of mine in a magazine next to say a florists advert will look boring, I will have a photo of a bride they will have a photo of flowers BUT if we send a tweet the florist can still only really put that same picture of flowers where I can now showcase a video, I can send it to hundreds of people free, tag people and locations in the video and really stand out now.  I have had several bookings through my facebook page from customers that knew my bride but only just (say they dont speak regular old school friends maybe) but saw the video i tagged my bride in and which was then put on her own timeline, they watched it, loved it and contacted me direct through facebook. Social media is a good place, we can sure good things, its not all about footballers and racism.
